Have you noticed in the last couple of years that Halloween merchandise is in stores earlier and earlier? I spotted Halloween items out in July this year and actually purchased a couple of things! This phenomenon is called Summerween, it’s for those of us who want to either buy early or bring a little spooky touch to the warmer months. I love Halloween so I honestly don’t mind this trend at all! Many crafting and stamping companies are also releasing their Fall and Halloween products too so you can get a start on those handmade cards early. So today let’s take a look at brand new ideas for Halloween cards.

If you prefer a more elegant design check out this card from Caitlin. She used dies to create a crescent shaped half wreath of Fall leaves and flowers around a white pumpkin with a witch’s hat. The touch of gold around the sentiment adds a bit of shine too. I spotted her card on the caitlinannaleecards Instagram page.

Jaycee used ink blending in orange, yellow and teal for the background of this fun Skeleton card. He used a Press Plate stamped in navy ink for the focal point, then again lighter in orange on either side for balance. A bold white on black sentiment finishes it off. There’s black bats flying in the ink blended background and die cut pumpkins with glittery smiles and eyes along the bottom for some spooky fun. Here’s another fun Halloween shaker card, this time from Angelica. She used pattern paper with lots of pink for the card base, creating a panel from black powdered watercolors behind the shaker, filling it with lots of colorful star sequins. These cute little spiders are ready for Halloween with a web filled with sweet treats! Mindy used a spiderweb stencil for the background and small stamps for the spiders and candy, adding a fun heat embossed sentiment in the center. Learn more at the Lawn Fawn blog.

Vera die cut a grid die and backed it with pink pattern papers for the background of this darling spoopy card. This gave her small sections to create little vignettes for the stamped Halloween party of critters, hanging spiders, a ghost and bee costumes and a treat bucket with sentiment.
