This fun reading layout has a large book and title die cut, cute photos, stacks of stamped and printed books and a glittery background made with gold foiling. You can watch Jessica’s process video over on the Therm O Web blog.

One of my favorite past times is reading. My mom instilled in me a great love of reading that I still cherish, every night before I go to bed I read for at least an hour. If you and your family love to read it’s a fun and different theme to include in your scrapbooking and journaling. Whether it’s reading for fun or school you can create layouts themed around favorite books, currently reading and reading to your children. Today let’s take a look at some reading and book themed scrapbook pages to get you inspired.

This end of school layout from Inessa uses a large die cut file of a stack of books backed with different pattern papers. For added texture there’s also stitching, gold alphabet sticker letters and enamel dots. I love the fluttering of butterflies around the design too! This darling layout from Becki uses primary colors with several different pattern papers, notice how that are added at an angle for greater interest. With the busy patterns she didn’t add too many embellishments but did include wooden shapes, a die cut title and some typewritten journaling. Watch her process video over on the Scrapbook Expo blog.

This dynamic digital design from Traci uses loads of different patterns with printed squares forming a grid background. Many of the elements look dimensional but of course aren’t like wooden shapes, paper flowers and leaves, sequins and twine. I love the “Shhhh…I’m reading”, what a great title for a book layout! Take a closer peek at the Allie Scraps blog.

Traci did one better and created an entire mini album devoted to reading. I can so relate to the “Book Nerd” on the cover! 🙂 Inside she’s include places to track your reading, books to be read, book club information, book reviews and summaries. I know it might sound silly but I also can relate to this “Good Books are like Best Friends” title on this layout ideas from Kim. My favorite books are always a comfort to me and I read them again and again. So add your favorite books to a design like this with borders, photo mats, and reading related images and sentiments. You can find Kim’s process video on the Stamping Imperfection blog.

I love the idea of Book Week at school where students and teachers dress as some of their favorite book characters. Melinda created a page with a stary background (perfect for the Stars Wars and Harry Potter costumes), book paper as mats behind the photos and a faux wooden title. There’s even a neat library pocket to hold one of the photos, so fun! I spotted this on the Traci Reed site.

This sweet layout shows you don’t need books themed products to create a reading page. Ashley used florals, stripes and heart patterns with some bookish die cut words for her pretty layout. Notice how everything is at a slight angle for added interest. Take a closer look at the Get Scraped blog.

Snap a shot of yourself reading for a simple but elegant layout. This one splits the page in two with solid and patterned pinks for the background, the photo on one side, sentiment on the other and some embellishment in the center. I spotted this idea on the Cinna71 gallery at Scrapbook.com.

And lastly create your own reading bullet journal using your scrapbooking supplies. Include things like TBR (to be read), lists of books you’ve already read, your thoughts and reviews of books and include pretty book covers. I found this idea on Lucy’s littlemissmacaronbujo Instagram page.

I hope you’ve gotten some ideas on how to incorporate a love of books and reading into your scrapbooks and journals. Enjoy your next book!
